Mitchell Alegre, a faculty member in Niagara University’s College of Business Administration and coordinator of the EAGLE program, was presented with the Hyde Park Business and Professional Association’s Leadership Award during the organization’s Installation and Awards Banquet, held Feb. 12 in the Como Restaurant.
The award was in recognition of work that students in Alegre’s Management Principles course completed in support of the organization.
The students designed and conducted a survey of businesses in the Hyde Park area and developed recommendations for the HPBPA based on those findings.
In addition, the students created an HPBPA newsletter for association members, drafted an informational brochure and designed business cards for Candace Corsaro, president, and David Erias, vice president. The business majors also established a branded email account, revamped the association’s Facebook presence and held a social media workshop for HPBPA members.
Erias, the owner of Enterprise Niagara Inc. and a 1982 Niagara University alumnus, expressed his appreciation for his alma mater’s efforts on behalf of the not-for-profit business association.
“We appreciate the Niagara University community, including its students, for all they do in Niagara Falls, and I am proud to have been educated there,” he said. “Please continue all the actions NU does in Niagara Falls.”
In November, Alegre was presented with an Angel Award by the Main Street Business and Professional Association.
