Arts Services Initiative of Western New York (ASI) announced the election of its board of directors, as well as the election of its officers for 2013. Stephanie Cole, Niagara University’s general counsel, was elected as vice president and Kate Koperski, director of the Castellani Art Museum, was elected as secretary.
Arts Services Initiative is a nonprofit 501 (c)3 organization governed by an independent board of directors comprising artists, arts administrators, business people, and private and corporate funders. ASI fosters capacity building, collaboration and advocacy efforts for the region’s cultural sector, an integral part of our community.
“I am gratified to bring my perspective as the legal counsel for the largest employer in Niagara County to this organization, especially at this time of growth and strategic planning,” Cole added. “As someone who moved to Western New York as an adult, I know the number of cultural resources in this region is a rare and phenomenal asset; helping ASI serve and emphasize those resources is a tremendous opportunity.”
Kate Koperski, who is serving a second term on the board, said, “Across the country and around the world, our most vibrant and livable cities recognize arts and culture as a key factor in economic development. I feel privileged to be part of an organization that is working to support arts and culture for the benefit of the Buffalo-Niagara region.”
“Our officers and directors achieve a great balance of discipline, geography and experience and will continue to play an integral part in advancing ASI’s mission in 2013 and beyond,” concluded Executive Director Tod A. Kniazuk.
