For the 17th consecutive year, freshmen enrolled in Niagara University’s College of Business Administration participated in a day-long retreat designed to build camaraderie and introduce the new students to the dynamic global world of business.
This year’s event took place Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 7:45 a.m. on Niagara’s campus. More than 150 freshmen participated, the largest figure in five years, in the team- and knowledge-building activities that were facilitated by 20 faculty members in addition to current and former business students.
Students competed for prizes by playing “Cashflow 101,” a financial literacy game based on the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, which the students read and wrote a paper on at the beginning of the semester.
Students were also challenged to develop an application compatible with iOS or Android operating systems.
“Many groups proposed very innovative and interesting solutions,” remarked Dr. Anna L. McNab, assistant professor of commerce.
The retreat concluded with a picnic catered by Lewiston’s Brickyard Pub & BBQ at the New York Power Authority, but not before students collected NU merchandise inscribed with the College of Business Administration’s mission statement, “To Learn, Serve and Lead with Integrity.”
