Beginning in spring 2012, Niagara University’s 4+1 BBA/MBA in professional accountancy program will be offering a new course. ACC 682, or C.P.A. Research, Practice and Strategy, is a three-credit hour course currently being held on Monday nights from 7:15 to 10 p.m. The prerequisite for the course is an undergraduate accounting degree (or its equivalent).
ACC 682 includes a comprehensive review of the advanced topics in auditing and attestation; the general business environment; regulation, including tax and business law; and financial accounting and reporting. It is intended for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting who plan to pursue a career in public accounting.
Students will be required to complete CPA excel modules, according to a rigorous schedule. CPAexcel is a software program that prepares candidates for the C.P.A. Exam. It was first delivered to C.P.A. Exam candidates in May 1998. Since then, students using CPA excel have consistently passed the C.P.A. Exam at exceptionally high rates. The focus of the class lectures will be research methods, contemporary accounting issues, and strategies on how to pass the CPA Exam.
The course will include a lab fee of $500 for matriculated students and $1,000 for non-matriculated students. This fee includes all materials required for the class and a license to use the CPAexcel preparation software from the start of class until the student passes all fours parts of the exam with no future upgrade fees (a $1,690 value). The course is currently being taught by five highly-regarded professors from Niagara’s Accounting Department: Drs. Lei Han and Shih-Jen Kathy Ho, and Professors Vincent Agnello, Christopher Aquino and James Ingham.
Passing the C.P.A. exam can be a very difficult challenge without adequate support in place. This class provides the software, guidance and strategy necessary to earn your C.P.A. designation.
