NU Collaborates with Niagara Catholic to Form Hospitality and Tourism Academy

Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management has joined with Niagara Catholic to establish of a Hospitality and Tourism Academy at Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School.

Students accepted to the program will obtain a solid understanding of the Hospitality and tourism profession, as well as gain industry experience. The students who complete this program at Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School will be well-prepared to enroll in the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Niagara University upon graduation.  In addition, Niagara Catholic students have the ability to graduate with up to one year of college course work completed.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain firsthand experience and knowledge in that multibillion dollar worldwide industry, as well as one that continues to grow in Western New York,” stated Ronald Buggs, president/principal of Niagara Catholic. “We are excited about the program and collaboration with Niagara University.”

Dr. Gary D. Praetzel, dean of Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, said that, “This partnership enhances the success and marketability of Niagara Catholic students. Before enrolling at NU, these students will already be part of our program by completing NU coursework and working with our faculty. Moreover, they will know, before joining us, that hospitality and tourism is their right career choice, and will already have excellent real world work experiences.”

Students and families who would like more information should contact Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School, or attend the school’s Open House on Oct. 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. and/or Oct. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.
