Senior Medal Awarded to Kimberly Vona

As part of Niagara University’s weekend commencement exercises, the university awarded the Senior Medal to Kimberly Sarah Vona. The Senior Medal is awarded annually to the student with the highest grade point average of the graduating seniors.

Vona was presented with a bachelor of science in marketing during the commencement exercises held Saturday morning in the Gallagher Center. In addition to the Senior Medal, Vona also earned the Kevin Mulhern Award as the outstanding athlete (cross-country) in the senior class, and the Everett W. Ockerman Award as the top graduate in the area of marketing.

As an NU student, Vona served as president of the Niagara University Marketing Association and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

As a member of the cross-country team, she won two individual championships, achieved an NU record in the 6k, captured a pair of MAAC medals, and  earned Student Athlete of the Week honors four times, MAAC Runner of the Week three times, and ECAC Runner of the Week once. She was also the 2014 recipient of Niagara University’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
