Deborah Brevoort, playwright of The Women of Lockerbie, will offer a talk back after NU's matinee presentation Oct. 23.
From Oct. 20 – 24, Niagara University Theatre begins its 2011-2012 season of productions with The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort, an unforgettable drama inspired by true events and real people.
Within the rolling green hills of Lockerbie, Scotland, seven years after the crash of Pan Am Flight 103, this poetic drama spotlights the triumph of love over hate. Based upon the aftermath of the 1988 terrorist bombing that killed 270 people over Lockerbie, the drama unfolds as a group of Scottish women come together to fight the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims on behalf of the grieving families.
The play won the silver medal in the Onassis International Playwriting Competition and the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award.
Director of the production is adjunct professor Amanda Lytle Sharpe, who recently directed The Pirates of Penzance for NU Theatre. Set designer of the production is assistant professor David Dwyer. Light designer is James Hergenroder, while sound designer is Glenn Bernardis. NU theatre studies student Andrea Gollhardt of Amherst, N.Y., is costume designer, and theatre studies student Rachel M. Olszewski of Grand Island, N.Y., is assistant director.

(Hattie); Dino Petrera of Syracuse, N.Y. (George Jones); and Michele Dalia of Pine Brook, N.J. ( Chorus). Stage manager is Aaron Moseley of Grand Island, N.Y., and assistant stage manager is Michael Sheridan of Amherst, N.Y.
