The United States Women’s National Lacrosse Team, winner of six world championships, will train at Niagara University on July 6 and 7 in advance of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup, which is being held July 11-20, in Oshawa, Ontario. Team USA will look to defend its 2009 gold medal earned in Prague, Czech Republic, and earn a record seventh world title.

After arriving in Buffalo on Friday, July 5, the team will hold three training sessions at Niagara Field on the campus of Niagara University. Training sessions will take place Saturday, July 6 (9-11 a.m., and 4-6 p.m.), and Sunday, July 7 (9:30-11 a.m.).

All practice sessions are open to the public.

Team USA boasts three New York natives in Katrina Dowd (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), Danielle Etrasco (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Katie Rowan (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central HS/Syracuse ’09). U.S. Women’s National Team manager Wendy Stone also serves as head coach of the Niagara University women’s lacrosse program.
