Undergraduate Commencement 2013 | Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M.
The Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., delivered the undergraduate commencement address to Niagara University's colleges of Education and Arts and Sciences on May 11, 2013. Father Levesque will step down from his role as NU president this summer, but remain on campus with the title of president emeritus.
He was presented with the university's Medal of Honor.

Undergraduate Commencement 2013 | Nik Wallenda
On June 15, 2012, highwire artist Nik Wallenda joined the ranks of legendary daredevils when he became the first person ever to walk across the roaring Niagara Falls. The broadcast was aired on ABC to over 13 million Americans.
Wallenda is the 7th generation member of the Great Wallendas. Every walk Wallenda does is in honor of his great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, who died on the wire in 1978.
Wallenda has been performing on a highwire since before he was born when his mother (who still performs with him today) walked while she was six months pregnant with him. The Niagara Falls walk marked Nik's seventh world record.
On May 11, 2013, Wallenda delivered the undergraduate commencement address to Niagara University's colleges of Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Niagara University presented him with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

The Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, bishop of Buffalo, celebrated Mass on May 9, 2013, for the Niagara University Class of 2013.
During the event, Bishop Malone was presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws.
Graduate Commencement 2013 | Kenneth D. Taylor
Kenneth D. Taylor, the former Canadian ambassador to Iran, spoke at Niagara University's graduate commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 9, 2013.
As Canadian ambassador, Taylor helped orchestrate the escape of six Americans from captivity during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979. For his efforts, Taylor has received the United States Congressional Gold Medal, The Order of Canada and keys to the cities of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Dallas.
Niagara University presented him with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

Father James Maher Named NU President
The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., was confirmed as the 26th president of Niagara University during a community meeting held March 13, 2013.
Father Levesque Announcement
The Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., announced that he will resign from his position as president of Niagara University at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year.
Since becoming the 25th president of NU in January 2000, Father Levesque has overseen a continuous process of transformation that has significantly developed the physical character of the university's campus and its 21st century approach to teaching and learning.
Father Levesque will remain at NU in the role of president emeritus. In this role, Father Levesque will be empowered to continue to help Niagara in ways designated by the new president and in a manner familiar to Father Levesque, especially in the areas of institutional advancement and in relation to the Institute for Civic Engagement.
