Niagara University student Mary Kate Prager was chosen to sit on stage and be serenaded by Jesse McCartney during his FirstFest performance on Sept. 9.

A free outdoor performance by national performing artist Jesse McCartney punctuated Niagara University’s annual FirstFest celebration.

McCartney, a former soap opera star and boy band member, captivated the 600-student crowd that convened in the O’Shea Quad with a blend of hits from his four solo albums, including Beautiful Soul. Sponsored by the NU Traditions Committee, the two-hour event also featured Never Shout Never as the opening act.

The concert was preceded by a block party, sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairsand Campus Programming Board, which included a mobile stunt jump, obstacle course, giant slide, carnival games, cookout, and more.

Niagara University’s Office of Campus Activities coordinates FirstFest each fall to welcome students back to campus. Thirteen events, including a casino night, hypnotist and outdoor games, and plenty of NU giveaways were presented this year from Sept. 5-11.
