New York Sen. Robert Ortt will speak about the proposed Western New York First Response and Preparedness Center during a June 4 breakfast event at Niagara University.
Hosted by Border Community SERVICE of Niagara University, the free, public event takes place in the Castellani Art Museum on the NU campus. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the presentation taking place 10-11 a.m.

The Western New York First Response and Preparedness Center is a proposed multi-tenant property that will support operations for emergency preparedness and disaster response. It will utilize the former Niagara Falls U.S. Army Reserve Center, near the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and Niagara Falls International Airport.
“The WNY First Response and Preparedness Center was recently recognized as a Regional Priority Project, which highlights the significance of this vital emergency operations hub and support from all levels of government,” said Sen. Ortt. “The First Response & Preparedness Center will help coordinate our efforts at the local, state and federal level, expanding emergency services across Western New York and ensuring maximum safety for our communities. The project is critical to improving response time, communication between agencies from across the region and thwarting terrorism threats. It will allow government agencies to quickly mobilize people, supplies and equipment, which, ultimately, could mean the difference between life and death.”
The mission of Border Community SERVICE is to provide emergency preparedness training to citizens and to encourage their participation in opportunities that enhance regional emergency readiness.
