Dr. Zongqing Zhou, a professor in Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, was named president of the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators at its 38th annual conference in September.

Dr. Zhou will serve a two-year term and is eligible for re-election to a second term. He has been a member of ISTTE for the past 25 years and served twice on its board of directors.

“During my tenure as president, my priorities are to grow ISTTE, making it the home of all tourism educators,” Dr. Zhou said. “We will continue to place emphasis on tourism education, but reach out to other tourism-related professionals. We will strike a balance between academic research and education-related pedagogies and practices. We will make our ISTTE website a tourism education clearinghouse where members can obtain conference proceedings, workshop materials, employment opportunities, innovative teaching methodologies and practices and many others. I will be working closely with the board of directors to create an organization that members can call home.”

The International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators is a nonprofit international organization dedicated to improving the quality of education and research in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries by promoting the exchange of information, ideas, and outstanding service to its members, who represent all levels of educational institutions from professional schools and high schools to four-year colleges and graduate-degree granting institutions.
