What is the most rewarding part of your position at NU?

“The most rewarding part of my position at NU is to create opportunities for students to learn, discover, and realize their potential to build creative solutions for organizations and the world. During the past several years, I have created several new courses in digital marketing, social media, and big data. I am astonished at the creativity, imagination, and excellence that students bring to their work when challenged to envision and implement innovative solutions.”

Is there one course you teach that you feel gets the most out of your students? And if so, why do you think that might be the case?

“If I had to choose one course, I would say that I am especially impressed with students’ engagement with big data analytics. This course requires students to use Google Cloud to manipulate and analyze massive marketing data sets while making recommendations to management using Cloud reports. Students are also challenged to create a marketing cloud database for an app solution. Students really rise to the challenge and do brilliant work because today’s students are agile; they believe that with data, knowledge, and creative effort, they can innovate and make a big difference.”

How do you think you personally set students up for success upon graduation?

“I’m a big fan of certifications and marketable skills. Students complete several certifications in my classes, and I make sure that they are well-versed in the latest technologies and approaches. At the same time, it’s very important for students to complete classes with a clear vision of theory and how theory guides marketing tasks. When students complete my classes, their resumes are enhanced, and they can demonstrate superior knowledge and expertise. This gives our students an edge for highly successful careers.”
