Mentorship students were recognized during the Holzschuh College of Business Administration’s awards ceremony for their participation in the yearlong program, which connect them with accomplished business professionals. They are pictured with Yaz Sarkees, coordinator of the program.

The Holzschuh College of Business Administration honored its students during its annual Honor Societies Induction and Awards Ceremony on April 24, 2025.

The ceremony began with a presentation from guest speaker and alumna Lisa Bellacicco, '99, chief operating officer at The Martin Group. Bellacicco, a member of Niagara University’s food marketing advisory board, shared her experiences as a marketing student at Niagara and discussed the importance of developing relationships and connections in the industry, showing up for your team, and having passion for the work.

During the ceremony, a number of students were recognized for their accomplishments.

Five students were presented with Everett W. Ockerman awards, named in honor of the professor emeritus who served as chair of the economics and commerce department for 25 years. Recognized for their academic achievements were:

  • MSA: Jared Holler
  • MSF: Joseph Woroniecki

Induction ceremonies were held for Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics; Beta Alpha Psi, the international honor society for accounting, finance, and information systems students attending AACSB-accredited schools; and Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business and management students attending AACSB-accredited schools.

Students who participated in the college’s mentorship program were also recognized during the ceremony.

"This is a yearlong commitment, and what makes it especially meaningful is that our students choose to participate while managing full academic, athletic, and social schedules,” said Yaz Sarkees, coordinator of the program. “Throughout the program, students lead conversations with their mentors on topics like leadership, communication, critical thinking, technology, innovation, and professional development to gain real-world insights, build confidence, and network."

Through their induction into prestigious honor societies and recognition with the Ockerman and graduate awards, these scholars represent the innovative business leaders of tomorrow."
