Niagara University will celebrate its recent designation as a National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense with a reception on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Russell J. Salvatore Dining Commons on the Niagara University campus.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be headlined by industry leader Tim Byrd, executive vice president and chief information security officer of M&T Bank and a member of the NYU Cyber Fellows Advisory Council at NYU Tandon.

Dr. Petter Lovaas, CISM, chief information security officer and the director of Niagara University’s National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, will host the event along with other cybersecurity faculty at the university.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Niagara University’s Master of Science in Information Security and Digital Forensics and undergraduate (CIS) programs and how their innovative curricula continues to advance cybersecurity education in the region through research and development of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
