Christina Hoven, Niagara University controller, was a featured presenter at the 2023 annual meeting of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers, Oct. 22-25 in Montreal, Canada.

Along with colleagues from Freed Maxick CPAs, who selected her from among all of their higher education controllers and CFOs, Hoven discussed “Maximizing Financial Performance: Using Data Analytics to Assess Profit Margins in Higher Education.” The presentation focused on the use of data analytics to identify profit margins by program, college, and other relevant segments within a university, knowledge which can give institutions valuable insights into which programs are generating the most revenue, which are incurring the most expenses, and where there are opportunities to improve overall profitability.

Hoven joined Niagara University in January 2019 as assistant controller and was promoted to her current role in September 2020 after serving as interim controller for a year. She previously held roles as cost analyst for Ashton Potter and accountant at LVD Strippit. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Canisius University and an MBA from Niagara University.
