Sister Beth Brosmer, executive director of Heart, Love and Soul, applauds after presenting the Frances Ficorilli Volunteer Award to the Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of Niagara University.

Niagara University was presented with the Frances Ficorilli Volunteer Award by Heart, Love and Soul during the food pantry and dining room’s annual recognition dinner on April 21.

The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of Niagara University, accepted the award from Sister Beth Brosmer, executive director of Heart, Love and Soul.

The Frances Ficorilli Volunteer Award, named for the woman who guided Heart, Love and Soul for 20 years, honors volunteers who have given many hours of faithful service to the nonprofit organization.

It was the 10th year that Heart, Love and Soul hosted an annual recognition dinner. Since its inception, the event has been catered by students in Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Sister Brosmer noted that NU students, faculty, and staff are involved at Heart, Love and Soul in multitudinous ways, including serving meals, unloading trucks, developing a guest database, assisting with graphic artistry, fundraising, and serving on its board.

The organization’s assistant director, Michael Daloia, is a 2009 graduate of Niagara University.

“Every single day, Purple Eagles land here and make a difference in the lives of those we serve,” stated Sister Brosmer. “We could not be more grateful for our partnership with our Vincentian sisters and brothers.”
