Niagara University in Ontario is exploring partnership opportunities with colleges in the province to provide pathways to the three newest programs offered at its Vaughan site—Master of Business Administration, M.S. in Finance, and M.S. in Information Security and Digital Forensics. As a result, several memorandums of understanding and articulation agreements are being established.
The partnerships will enable students who complete specific degree programs at the partner colleges to transfer credits into one of the three graduate programs, which are offered with consent by the Minister of Colleges and Universities, and accelerate their completion of a master’s degree. All three programs are taught in small classes by highly qualified faculty with industry experience, and encourage collaboration and experiential learning. They can be completed over four full-time semesters, with courses scheduled on evenings and weekends for the convenience of working professionals.
The Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance programs are offered through Niagara University’s AACSB-accredited College of Business Administration and provide students with rigorous, advanced study in the areas of corporate finance, investments, financial planning, and business administration. Fewer than 5% of business programs around the world hold this prestigious accreditation that speaks to an institution’s commitment of high-quality curriculum, faculty, and facilities. Niagara University is proud to include itself among this elite group.
The MBA program offers six areas of specialization: accounting, finance, global business and supply chain management, healthcare administration, strategic management, and strategic marketing. It comprises 51 graduate credit hours, which include six prerequisite courses for non-business majors, six core courses, one advised elective, and three courses in the chosen concentration area. During the final semester of study, all students are required to complete a capstone course.
The master’s degree in finance program requires completion of 10 required classes, which provide a thorough foundation to prepare students for careers in finance. As part of the curriculum, students have access to advanced analytical tools and software, as well as financial databases found in the workplace.
The master’s degree in information security and digital forensics program is designed to prepare students and working professionals for an exciting and rewarding career in cybersecurity, both in government and in private business. The 36-credit-hour program consists of 12 courses. Using professional applications in computer and mobile forensics, students gain knowledge and expertise in network security, ethical hacking, and privacy, preparing them for certification as systems security management professionals and access data certified computer forensics investigators.
In January 2019, Niagara University began offering classes in its permanent location in the Vaughan Metropolitan Center, building upon the university’s more than 35-year legacy in the region. In addition to the MBA and the M.S. programs, Ontario College of Teachers-accredited Bachelor of Professional Studies in Education and Master of Science in Educational Leadership programs are also offered at the site.
