This summer, NU Theatre’s 40-year tradition of entertaining children and families with its N.U.R.T. storytelling troupe continues!

Here comes Lily with her purple plastic purse! And Alexander, as usual, is having a “terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day…” and Pierre just doesn’t care!

Yes, Niagara University Repertory Theatre (N.U.R.T.) is back and better than ever. The fast, furious, and fantastically funny children’s tales brought to life by trained actors will delight audiences of all ages.

N.U.R.T. will present a rotating repertoire of free children’s stories outdoors in the Village of Lewiston at Artpark during its Free Family Saturdays in July. Performances will take place near the upper level sandbox area on the following Saturdays at 1 and 3 p.m.:  July 9, 23, and 30. Reservations are not required.

The N.U.R.T. troupe will also perform at Niagara University every Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on July 28 and Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25. The shows take place in the Gallagher Center’s Multi-Purpose Room while construction continues on Clet Hall. Reservations are not required.

N.U.R.T. cast members include NU theatre performance students hailing from across New York state: Krista Cantrell, Marissa DelVecchio, Amanda Funiciello, Kalee George, Matt Myers, Kayla Storto, Carly Weldy, Russell Wilson, and David Wysocki. Theatre design/technology major Keelin Higgins (stage manager) and recent BFA performance graduate Anna Krempholtz (set designer) are from Western New York.

Amanda Lytle Sharpe, adjunct theater professor and N.U.R.T. director, said, “Our free children’s theatre performances will include about 40 minutes of children’s stories in rotation. The production is fun for the whole family, but is especially appropriate for children ages 3- 12 and we ask that children are always accompanied by an adult.”
