One Niagara University marketing student is a real straight shooter on an international scale.
Timothy Palumbo, 32, is looking to graduate with his bachelor’s in marketing at the end of 2022, but first, he’s headed to Dubai to compete in the 2022 World Archery Para Championships Feb. 19-27 as a member of the USA Paralympic Archery Team. Palumbo has competed in archery for 25 years, with almost a decade of experience on the Team USA and World team organizations after making their rosters in 2013.
He has won multiple medals in outdoor archery, including a team gold medal in the 2019 World Archery Para Championships, an individual gold in the 2015 Pan American Outdoor Championships, and another team gold medal int eh 2018 Pan American Outdoor Championships. His current world ranking in the recurve men open category is 44.
Although Palumbo tends to limit his winter training to two to three days a week of shooting (plus weight-lifting), he increases his preparation for major events like the World Archery Para Championships. During the summer, Palumbo practices archery about six times a week, in addition to his weight training.
After previously enrolling in Bryant and Stratton College, Palumbo was attracted to Niagara University’s College of Business Administration after noticing the personalized attention and small class sizes.
“Instead of being a number at a bigger college, my teachers know my name,” he said. “I like all my teachers. They’re very in-depth and whenever I have a question, they’re willing to help with that. They help my achieve my goals in the working world.”
Following his graduation later this year, Palumbo plans to pursue a marketing position with the Paralympic organization and possibly pursue his master’s degree.
