Niagara University is pleased to launch its new Master of Arts (MA) in Disaster/Emergency Management and National Security program at its campus in Vaughan, Ontario. This interdisciplinary program is designed to empower the next generation of leader practitioners in the fields of disaster and emergency management, as well as national security, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to address urgent societal challenges.

The MA in Disaster/Emergency Management and National Security program at Niagara University is uniquely positioned to train students to respond effectively to a wide range of crises, from natural disasters to attacks on critical infrastructure. Through a combination of cutting-edge theoretical tools and practical skills development, graduates will be prepared to analyze and address the complex threats facing societies in the 21st century.

"The need for highly trained, skilled professionals in the fields of disaster and emergency management, has never been greater. Our graduates will be well-equipped to lead emergency response efforts and protect communities from a variety of threats,” said Dr. Tim Ireland, Niagara’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Our bi-national presence sets us apart and provides students with a unique opportunity to gain a global perspective, which is invaluable in today's interconnected world."

One of the distinguishing features of Niagara University's MA in Disaster/Emergency Management and National Security program is its bi-national perspective. With campuses in both Canada and the United States, Niagara University offers students exposure to best practices from both countries, helping them develop a global view of emergency management and national security.

The program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills development, ensuring that graduates are prepared to immediately apply their expertise in real-life settings. Through hands-on capstone courses and internship opportunities, students will have the opportunity to work with partner organizations and gain valuable experience in the field.

"We believe in providing our students with real-life skills and experiential learning opportunities that will set them up for success in their careers," added Dr. Ireland.  "Our goal is to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also capable of making a meaningful impact in their communities."
