Dr. Sara (Parkinson) Lankshear, '82, associate dean of nursing programs at Georgian College.

Tabitha McNamara, clinical faculty fellow in the College of Nursing; alumna Dr. Sara (Parkinson) Lankshear, '82; and Dr. Frances (Stevralia) Crosby, '67, university professor, were among the nurses from around the world who participated during “Nurses Together: A Force for Global Health,” the 2023 International Council of Nursing’s Congress, held in Montreal, Canada, July 1-5, 2023.

McNamara and Dr. Crosby’s poster presentation shared the results of a focus group they conducted with pre-licensure nursing students to ascertain their perceptions of their facilitators and the constraints they experienced in their studies during COVID. Dr. Lankshear, associate dean of nursing programs at Georgian College, presented an E-poster detailing an innovative telehealth experience that connected nursing students with socially isolated older adults. She also moderated several programs during the conference.

Co-sponsored by the International Council of Nurses, a federation of more than 130 national nurses associations representing the more than 28 million nurses worldwide, and the Canadian Nurses Association, the congress is the world’s largest international nursing event. The global platform gathers and empowers attendees to learn, share, and network in order to build a better future for the nursing workforce and its healthcare systems.
