From Feb. 24-26, the Niagara University Players will present an entirely student-run production of The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel in the Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall.
Directed by Sabrina Kahwaty, a senior theatre major at NU, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds is a thought-provoking and heartbreaking play about a dysfunctional family, and a young girl striving to hold on to hope and her love of science in the midst of chaos.
The production will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24-25, and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 25-26. There will be a post-show discussion Feb. 25 after the 2 p.m. performance.
The board members of the Niagara University Players who are responsible for organizing this production include Carly L. Weldy, ’18 (Artistic Director); Rachael Buchanan, ’18 (Assistant Artistic Director); Jordan Grimble, ’18 (Technical Director); and Jeremy Warsitz, ’19 (Assistant Technical Director).
Set design is by theatre design/technology major Andrew Hayes, ’18. Lighting design is by theatre design/technology major Tristan Hils, ’18. Sound design is by theatre performance major Kalee George, ’18. Costume design is by theatre performance major Rachael Buchanan, ’18, and makeup design is by theatre performance major Matt Dell’Olio, ’17.
Cast members of the production include the following theatre studies students: Heather Gervasi, ’20 (Tillie), Kalee George, ’18 (Beatrice), Kyla Jack Farrell, ’20 (Ruth), Caroline Kolasny, ’20 (Nanny), and Marley Rockwood, ’20 (Janice Vickery).
Stage manager of the production is theatre design/ production student Kimberly Pukay, ’20, and the assistant stage manager is theatre performance major Kayla Reumann, ’20.
