Niagara University Theatre’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has been nominated for four of BroadwayWorld Buffalo’s 2017 theatre awards, including Best Musical.

In addition to the Best Musical nomination, the production’s director, Steve Braddock, director of NU Theatre, is up for Best Director in a Musical, Dylan Zalikowski is a nominee for Best Actor in a Musical and Carly Weldy is contending for Best Actress in a Musical. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was onstage at NU Dec. 1-11, 2016.

Below is a list of students, alumni and faculty who were nominated:

  • Best Actor in a Play: Adriano Gatto
  • Best Actor in a Musical: Joey Bucheker, ’09, Brian Mysliwy, ’96, Marc Sacco, ’00, Louis Colaiacovo, ’99, and Dylan Zalikowski, ’17
  • Best Actress in a Musical: Michelle Ragusa, ’87, Arianne Davidow, ’16, Sara Kovacsi, ’06, and Carly Weldy, ’18
  • Best Choreographer of a Musical: Joey Bucheker, ’09
  • Best Director in a Musical: Steve Braddock and Doug Zschiegner
  • Best Director in a Play: Joey Bucheker, ’09, and Katie Mallinson, ’05
