Adriano Gatto, an artist-in-residence at Niagara University, and Joey Bucheker, a 2009 alumnus of the Catholic and Vincentian university, received BroadwayWorld Buffalo’s awards for Best Actor in a Play and Best Actor in a Musical, respectively.
Gatto was recognized for his work in Design for Living at Irish Classical Theatre, while Bucheker was commended for his portrayal of Nurse Candida in Killer Rack at Alleyway Theatre, which won Best Musical. Bucheker was also named Best Director in a Play for Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding at Theatre in the Mist.
Several other Niagara University faculty members, students and alumni were nominated for awards by BroadwayWorld Buffalo, a website dedicated to coverage of Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and international theatre. NU Theatre’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was also up for Best Musical.
