NU Theatre tops off its 54th season with dynamic production of Chicago from April 19-29, directed by Steve Braddock, director of NU Theatre; choreographed by Natalie Slipko, and music directed by Dr. Bridget Moriarty. Set amidst the delicious decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, housewife and aspiring nightclub dancer who murders her lover and transforms her malicious misconduct into sensational headlines suggestive of today’s tabloids.
Winner of six Tony awards, Chicago will razzle-dazzle audiences and get your blood pumping.
Chicago will be on stage in the Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall, at 7 p.m. on April 19 and 29, and presented at 7:30 p.m. on April 20, 21, 22 and 27. In addition, 2 p.m. matinees will be held April 21, 22 (with post-show discussion) and 29.
Costume, hair and makeup design is by Maureen T. Stevens, associate professor. Light design is by Patty Rihn, and sound designer is by design/production major Jordan Grimble of Albion, N.Y. Set design is by associate professor David Dwyer. Stage manager is theatre design/production major Andrew Hayes and assistant stage managers are design/production major Jason Stopinski and performance major Caleb Paxton.
