Christopher Sheffield has been promoted to vice president for student affairs at Niagara University. The NU alumnus, who graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and earned his master’s degree in criminal justice and criminology in 2001, has held a number of key roles at the university over his 19-year tenure, most recently serving as the associate vice president of Student Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness.

For the past three years, Sheffield has led the Student Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness sector. Under his leadership, the sector has strengthened its focus on the overall student experience, fostering the inclusion of student voices in terms of advocacy, inclusion, and support.

Sheffield, who joined the university staff in 2001 as the assistant dean of students, has also held the position of executive director of University Planning and Assessment. In this role, he oversaw the Middle States accreditation processes and monitoring of university policy in relation to Title IX law developments, and led the university strategic planning process through collaboration with university leadership.
