“Fight for Good: One Body One Soul,” a short film highlighting the efforts of the Community Health Center of Buffalo to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic was screened at Niagara University on Oct. 29 in the university’s Dunleavy Hall amphitheater. The documentary is the second created by Buffalo Documentary Project in collaboration with the CHCB, and highlights the CHBC’s efforts to provide healthcare for the most disadvantaged populations residing in the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls during the pandemic.

As CHCB’s leadership and providers went into the community to deliver healthcare for the most disadvantaged populations, they grew increasingly aware of the obstacles caused by systemic racism and healthcare inequities and the resulting racial disparities that created new challenges such as vaccine hesitancy and refusal during the COVID-19 pandemic. Featuring candid community voices, the film offers ways to respond to these unprecedented difficulties.

An audience “Talk Back” session featuring Dr. Lavonne Ansari, CHBC chief executive officer, and Dr. Kenyani Davis, CHBC chief medical officer, followed the screening.
