Three Named to Niagara University’s Board of Trustees

Niagara University’s Board of Trustees elected three new members during its December meeting: Shannon Patch, vice president of government affairs at Delaware North; Robert Rich III, founder and president of ROAR Logistics; and Kevin Ruggiero, vice president and chief information officer of Moog. The appointments were announced by the Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of the university.

Kyle Barker, ’19, Produces First-of-its-Kind Broadcast on ESPN

Kyle Barker, ’19, was in the right place at the right time. The Syracuse, N.Y., native was working as an intern with Niagara University’s athletic communications department when the university received a $1 million gift from 1966 alumnus Bill McKnight to upgrade its broadcast studio. The funds enabled the department to purchase equipment that would enable it to create content that met TV network production standards.

Marisa (Cenci) Brown, ’73: Improving the Health and Lives of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

After graduating from Niagara University’s College of Nursing in 1973 and working for three years at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia, she and her husband moved to Madison, Wisc., where she interviewed at both the local VA hospital and at Central Wisconsin Center, an institution that served individuals with developmental disabilities.

Kimberly Alexander Carlo, ’15, M.S.Ed.’17, Shares Passion for Science

In November, Niagara University alumna Kimberly Alexander Carlo, ’15, M.S.Ed.’17, received the prestigious national Milken Educator Award, hailed as the "Oscars of Teaching." Alexander Carlo, a seventh-grade science teacher in the Lewiston-Porter Central School District, is the first educator in the district to have received this honor, which recognizes outstanding K-12 educators nationwide for their excellence and leadership in the profession.
