Dr. Laura Sarchet, assistant professor in Niagara University’s College of Education, published an article in the Journal of Disability Studies in Education that explored how the experiences of disabled and neurodivergent faculty in higher education differ from those of neurotypical and nondisabled faculty.

Summer High School Student at Institute Wins Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s Summer Internship Award

At Mayor Brown’s 2024 summer internship awards ceremony, Murphy Suah, a Jacobs Institute intern who worked in the Niagara University Biomedical Research Institute under the direction of Dr. Mary McCourt, professor of chemistry, was awarded the enthusiastic learner award.

Niagara University Elevates Commitment to the Hispanic Community by Partnering with Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York for Hispanic Heritage Month 2024

Niagara University, in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York, is hosting two events during Hispanic Heritage Month that highlight the history and contributions of Hispanics in the Buffalo/Niagara region. More than 62 million people identified as ethnically Hispanic—people whose ancestors come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America—according to the 2020 U.S. census, making it the country’s second largest, and one of the fastest-growing, racial or ethnic minority.

Duncan Kirkwood Is Hyatt Foundation Featured Speaker at College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management’s All College Meeting

Duncan Kirkwood, a global speaker, author, and educator, was the featured presenter at the Niagara University College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management’s bi-annual All College Meeting, Sept. 6 in the Russell Salvatore Dining Commons on the NU campus. Kirkwood’s talk focused on how to make the most of the college experience and build resiliency.

Niagara University Observes Every Child Matters Day with Series of Events

On Monday, Sept. 30, Niagara University will observe Every Child Matters Day, or Orange Shirt Day, with a series of drop-in programs and installations across the campus. These activities and exhibits will provide opportunities for education and reflection about the history and lasting impact of residential schools on Indigenous and First Nations communities.

Niagara University Receives $10 Million Gift from Entrepreneur and Philanthropist B. Thomas Golisano

Niagara University has received a $10 million gift from entrepreneur, philanthropist, and civic leader B. Thomas Golisano. This transformational gift is one of the largest received among a series of major awards totaling $360 million to organizations in Upstate New York, which were announced by Golisano on Sept. 17, 2024.

Niagara University Announces 2024 Fall Speaker Series

The power of forgiveness, lessons in leadership, angels and aliens, providing healthcare in remote areas, and surveillance in the Medieval period will be the topics of discussion during Niagara University’s 2024 Speaker Series. All presentations take place at 5 p.m. in the Castellani Art Museum on the Niagara University campus and are free and open to the public.
