Niagara University College of Nursing Receives $4.5 Million Grant to Create Nursing Pathways and Bolster WNY Workforce

Niagara University’s College of Nursing received a $4.5 million funding award to further its work to enhance the local nursing workforce and support students aspiring to join the profession. The HELP Nursing Pathways Program, which begins in January, will implement educational interventions, provide scholarships, and mentor learners pursuing a degree in nursing, initiatives that build on the college’s current endeavors to create new opportunities and improve retention and completion for underserved students. It will also leverage the college’s partnerships with local healthcare organizations to create clinical rotations and experiences that will increase students’ awareness of the opportunities available.

NU Edge Gives Business Students a Career Advantage

Entrepreneurship was the focus of NU Edge, an annual program designed to connect students in Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration with leaders in the local business ecosystem and help them discover the pathways available for their career success. This year’s event took place on Nov. 18 in the Russell Salvatore Dining Commons on the Niagara University campus.

Niagara University Announces Historic $5 Million Gift to Pre-law Program

Niagara University is proud to announce a historic and transformative gift that will elevate the experience and success of its pre-law students. The landmark contribution of $5 million by the family of alumnus George Wiegers, '58—the largest to an undergraduate pre-law program in the region—will provide exceptional opportunities to aspiring legal professionals through the establishment of an on-campus moot courtroom and pre-law library, an endowed directorship, and expanded resources.

The Niagara University’s men's club ACHA D1 hockey team took over the top spot in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Ranking #6 for the first time in team history. The undefeated Purple Eagles swept Adrian College in pair of games on the road at Arrington Ice Arena, Nov. 6 and 7.

Ed.D., senior vice president for mission integration at Catholic Health, Long Island; Jessica Enstice, an educator and active community volunteer; the Rev. Patrick Flanagan, C.M., Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John’s University; Michael Harrington, partner at Duane Morris LLP; Joanne Israel, general manager of Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino; Kevin Kreczko, vice president daydreamer | customer experience for Bass Pro Shops; and Dr. Eileen O’Brien-Scannell, president of Buffalo Peace House.

Niagara University Honors Scott Bieler and the Vincentian Community at Annual President’s Dinner

Niagara University celebrated its students and honored distinguished individuals who embody Niagara’s mission within their communities during the 2025 President’s Dinner on Nov. 5, 2025. Scott Bieler, president and CEO of West Herr Automotive Group and The Scott Bieler Family Foundation, received the St. Vincent de Paul Award in recognition of his outstanding support of NU and its students, and the Vincentian Community was honored with the Ozanam Medal in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission.
