Niagara University Accounting Students Offering Free Help for 2024 Tax Returns

It’s tax season, and accounting students from Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration and members of its Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi will again provide members of the Niagara Falls community free tax preparation assistance through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

For the past four years, Tom Sacco has been chief happiness officer, CEO, and presidentat Dynamic Restaurant Holdings, owner/operators of Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream Parlor and Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza. It’s a role he seemingly has been preparing for his whole life, beginning at the restaurant and hotel his Italian grandparents owned on Wasaga Beach, just north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.

Accounting students in Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration's cost management systems course presented their case analyses to a panel of academic and seasoned business professionals during a case competition on April 23, 2024. The competition, which was sponsored by Lumsden McCormick CPA, is the first of its kind in the upstate New York region.

Niagara University Accounting Students To Participate in Case Competition

Students in Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration's cost management systems course will present their case analyses to a panel of academic and seasoned business professionals during a case competition on April 23 from 1-4 p.m. in the atrium of Bisgrove Hall on the NU campus. The competition, which is sponsored by Lumsden McCormick CPA, is the first of its kind in the upstate New York region.

Niagara University Students Participate in 2023 College Fed Challenge

Four Niagara University students from the Holzschuh College of Business Administration competed against their peers from more than 100 colleges and universities across the United States in the 2023 College Fed Challenge, an annual competition hosted by the Federal Reserve System’s board of governors and the Federal Reserve Banks.

Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration Hosts Cybersecurity Expert

As a college student, Patrick Byrne didn’t take advantage of the extracurricular opportunities he had to gain valuable experience in his field of accounting and to connect with professionals in the industry. He made up for lost time after graduation, however, by finding his niche—cybersecurity—and focusing on professional development through conferences and networking. Today, he is chief information security officer at Evans Bank and a Buffalo Business First “30 under 30” honoree.

Niagara University Accounting Students Offering Free Tax Preparation Help

Accounting students from Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration and members of its Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi will again provide members of the Niagara Falls community free tax preparation assistance through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which offers free tax help for low to moderate income families, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and those with limited English proficiency.
