Niagara University and Partners Highlight Special Olympics Course at National Conference

A team from Niagara University and their partners from People, Inc. and Think College presented at the State of the Art conference in Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 22, 2025. During their session, the team discussed how the university’s Special Olympics Coaching and Games Management course has set the stage for providing postsecondary education opportunities to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Bridget Niland Named to Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame 2024 Class

Dr. Bridget Niland, dean of Niagara University’s College of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management, will be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Nov. 12, during a ceremony at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, 153 Franklin Street Buffalo, N.Y.,14202. She is one of 12 members of the 2024 class.

Duncan Kirkwood Is Hyatt Foundation Featured Speaker at College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management’s All College Meeting

Duncan Kirkwood, a global speaker, author, and educator, was the featured presenter at the Niagara University College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management’s bi-annual All College Meeting, Sept. 6 in the Russell Salvatore Dining Commons on the NU campus. Kirkwood’s talk focused on how to make the most of the college experience and build resiliency.

Merani Scholarship Awarded to First-Year Student Abigail Flick

First-year student Abigail Flick was selected as the 2024 recipient of Niagara University’s Merani Scholarship, a collaboration between the university and the Merani Hotel Group to provide opportunities for high-level experiential learning in the hospitality industry. She will receive an annual scholarship of $7,500 and paid rotating internships at Merani properties.
