Niagara University Holds Annual Voter Registration Drive
On Thursday, Oct. 9, the Rose Bente Lee Ostapenko Center held its annual voter registration drive in the city of Niagara Falls. Ostapenko interns Niesha Belleus and Jessica Fernandez, senior social work majors, organized the voting campaign.

Niagara University Education Professors Publish in Excelsior, the Journal of the New York Association of Colleges for Teacher Education
Dr. Karen Poland, assistant professor in Niagara University’s College of Education, and her colleagues, Dr. Paul Vermette and Dr. MaryEllen Bardsley, recently published an article in Excelsior: Leadership in Teaching and Learning, the journal of the New York Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. “Invent a Kid Project: Fostering Creative Reflective Practice in Teacher Candidates,” summarized the origins and theoretical foundation of the “Invent a Kid” project, offered models of implementation, and provided several suggestions for teacher educators to consider when implementing the project in their course.

Niagara University’s College of Education Honored with 2025 Frank Murray Leadership Recognition
Niagara University’s College of Education was recently awarded the prestigious Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. It was the only educator preparation provider in New York state to earn the 2025 Murray Recognition.
