It was a monumental day for Niagara University’s College of Nursing as the first five students in the Family Nurse Practitioner program were honored during a white coat ceremony.
Nancy Cliff, Collin Grow, Montana Draves, Elizabeth Thomas, and Michelle Torres received their certificates and were honored alongside faculty, friends and family. Their official graduation date was Aug. 11.
The Family Nurse Practitioner program is led by Director Rebecca Roloff and Dean of Nursing Christine Verni.
The remaining 25 students are in various stages of their Family Nurse Practitioner journey, with the goal of completing the certificate program within two years. As part of the ceremony, students received their white coats, a longstanding tradition and honor within the nursing profession.
These five students are among the inaugural group in Niagara University’s growing Family Nurse Practitioner program. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nurse practitioner positions are among the fastest-growing occupations in the country, with a median annual wage exceeding $100,000.
