Niagara University and Hobart and William Smith Colleges Partner to Launch Accelerated Criminal Justice Master’s Pathway

Niagara University and Hobart and William Smith Colleges are proud to announce a new partnership establishing an accelerated pathway for HWS undergraduate students to earn a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration at NU.

Through this new agreement, eligible students who complete a bachelor’s degree at HWS can complete Niagara University’s M.S. in criminal justice administration in just two semesters. This is achieved by enhancing three designated undergraduate HWS sociology courses – focusing on juvenile delinquency, penology, policing, or criminology – to meet advanced academic expectations. This structure allows students to integrate graduate-level outcomes into their undergraduate study, ensuring both academic rigor and cost savings.

To be eligible for the pathway, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and formally indicate their interest via Niagara University’s website. Upon enrollment at Niagara, students will submit a portfolio of their enhanced coursework for review and potentially earn credit for up to three graduate courses.

The agreement was signed by Niagara University Provost Dr. Timothy O. Ireland and Hobart and William Smith Colleges Provost Dr. Sarah R. Kirk. This opportunity is available immediately, including for HWS students graduating in the spring of 2026. Both institutions will collaborate on recruitment efforts, including campus visits and informational sessions, to support students interested in this accelerated professional trajectory. For more information, interested students may contact Dr. Dana Radatz, Niagara University’s graduate director of criminal justice administration, at 716.286.8092 or dradatz@niagara.edu. At Hobart and William Smith Colleges, inquiries can be directed to Dr. Jim Sutton, chair of sociology, at 315.781.4635 or jsutton@hws.edu.
