Orange Flag Installation Part of Every Child Matters Day Observance

Symyah Simeus of Niagara University’s Intercultural Engagement Center staffs a table during an orange flag installation on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, in observance of Every Child Matters Day. The installation, on the lawn in front of O’Shea Hall, served as a visual reminder and temporary monument to the history and legacy of residential schools. Founded in 2013 by residential school survivor Phyllis (Jack) Webster, Canoe Creek Indian Band, Every Child Matters Day brings awareness to the individuals, families, and communities affected by the Indian Residential Boarding Schools.
