Faculty and staff from Niagara University’s College of Education presented their research at the annual conference of the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education, Feb. 15-16, 2024, in Denver, Colo. The conference theme was "Leading the Change and Fostering Collective Resilience: Independent Liberal Arts Institutions Shaping a Sustainable Future for Teacher Education."

Students in Niagara University’s master’s degree program in school counseling will celebrate National School Counseling Week 2024, “School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused,” from Feb. 5–9, by participating in activities to thank and acknowledge school counselors for the work that they do.

Niagara University Teacher Candidates Gain Intercultural Awareness Through Authorship Project

Niagara University College of Education teacher candidates enrolled in EDU578 and EDU579 during the fall 2023 semester participated in the Authorship Project, an in-depth global exploration of culture and values. As they learned the foundations of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, they also discovered the role multicultural literature plays in instruction and gleaned intercultural awareness, stretching literacy beyond our national borders.

Kimberly Alexander Carlo, ’15, M.S.Ed.’17, Shares Passion for Science

In November, Niagara University alumna Kimberly Alexander Carlo, ’15, M.S.Ed.’17, received the prestigious national Milken Educator Award, hailed as the "Oscars of Teaching." Alexander Carlo, a seventh-grade science teacher in the Lewiston-Porter Central School District, is the first educator in the district to have received this honor, which recognizes outstanding K-12 educators nationwide for their excellence and leadership in the profession.
