Two Niagara University Alumni Honored as Leaders of Color

Joanne Rickard Israel, general manager at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, and Darius Myles, president and CEO of DMyles Inc., were honored by Buffalo Business First as among the “Power 100 Business Leaders of Color” in recognition of the way they foster creativity and inclusion in their organizations, act as role models for future generations, and recognize that diverse viewpoints breed success.

Israel, a member of Niagara’s Class of 2006 and of the university’s Board of Trustees, has led the Seneca Gaming Corp.’s largest gaming and entertainment resort property since 2022. She joined the organization in 2011 after five years in public accounting and has held roles as corporate director of finance, casino controller, and general manager at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. She was named assistant general manager at Seneca Niagara in 2018, where she helped manage and facilitate the $40 million Seneca Arrival Experience project, which completely renovated and reimagined the east entrance to the resort.

Myles, a member of Niagara’s Class of 2015, established his paving and construction business in 2013. The company is the first in Niagara County to be certified by New York state as both a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), and also a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB). The Niagara Falls, N.Y., native was named Leadership Niagara’s 2016 Emerging Leader of the Year for both his professional success and his dedication to community service.

Buffalo Business First launched the annual Power 100 Business Leaders of Color list in 2022 to highlight influential business and nonprofit leaders of color in the Western New York region who are making a significant impact on the community.
