Niagara University Brings Emergency Management Training to Mariana Islands

Emergency management master trainer Vicky Davidson traveled to the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Island in April to deliver Niagara University’s nationally acclaimed training at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at the Northern Marianas College, one of the 67 UCEDDs across the United States and its territories.

Niagara University Set to Host 2024 Special Olympics Regional Basketball Tournament

Niagara University’s Kiernan Recreation Center will welcome more than 200 Special Olympians and their families on April 27 as the host of the Special Olympics New York’s Western Regional Basketball Tournament. The event begins with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with team and skills awards.

Niagara University Ostapenko Center Sponsors Youth Action Conference

Three hundred students in grades 6-12 from 17 private and public schools across New York state learned more about leadership and becoming change agents at a Youth Action Conference on April 23 at the Niagara Falls Convention Center. The event, now in its seventh year, is sponsored by the Niagara University Ostapenko Center for Race, Equity and Mission.

Niagara University’s Annual Take Back the Night Focuses on Resilience

The strength of survivors of sexual assault was the focus of Niagara University’s annual “Take Back the Night” event on April 18, 2024. Hundreds of Niagara University students, faculty, and staff were joined by members of the community at the event, now in its seventh year, which aims to end gender-based violence in all forms, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Castellani Art Museum’s Kids ‘n Arts Summer Camp Celebrates 20 Years of Fostering Creativity and Wellness

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Castellani Art Museum (CAM) Kids 'n Arts Summer Camp. For two decades, this distinctive camp has been a beacon of creativity and health education. As of last year, a new collaboration with the College of Nursing has further enriched this integration of artistic creativity with physical and mental health education, a partnership we are excited to continue.

Niagara University Accounting Students To Participate in Case Competition

Students in Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration's cost management systems course will present their case analyses to a panel of academic and seasoned business professionals during a case competition on April 23 from 1-4 p.m. in the atrium of Bisgrove Hall on the NU campus. The competition, which is sponsored by Lumsden McCormick CPA, is the first of its kind in the upstate New York region.

Noted Philosopher Discusses Pros and Cons of Living Forever

Dr. John Martin Fischer, distinguished professor of philosophy at the University of California Riverside, presented “The ‘Forever Wars’: Should You Choose to Live Forever?” on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Niagara University. The presentation was the fourth in a series of discussions hosted by the university’s Ostapenko Center for Ethics in Medicine and Healthcare this spring.
