Dr. Cheryl Mitchell Meets with Staff of Niagara University’s Biomedical Research Institute

Dr. Cheryl Mitchell, CEO of Creative Research Management, visited Niagara University’s Biomedical Research Institute on Jan. 9 to discuss her experience with the commercialization of technology. She also donated a M700 Microfluidizer, which will help the institute “upscale our manufacturing capacity,” said Rob Tober, the institute’s administrative liaison.

A research chemist and holder of 18 food patents, Dr. Mitchell is an acknowledged expert in the development of food ingredients and specialty products made from grains, nuts, seeds, and tubers.

In addition to Dr. Mary McCourt, the Michael J., ’60 and Aimee Rusinko Kakos Endowed Chair of Chemistry, who directs the institute, research chemist Brandon Oligny, cell technologist Aditi Chitnis, and undergraduate research student Carson Blatner attended the meeting.

Dr. McCourt developed Cholestosome™, a cutting-edge drug delivery system, and holds 14 patents for the technology, which is moving toward commercialization.
