Niagara University created enrollment momentum entering the spring 2026 semester, reporting a significantly increased number of new transfer students.
According to year-to-date data, the number of new transfer and returning students committed to Niagara University for the spring 2026 semester has increased by 73% compared to the same time last year. This surge reflects the university’s strategic focus on creating seamless pathways for students transitioning from other institutions or returning to complete their degrees.
“We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of students to Monteagle Ridge,” said Michael Freedman, NU’s vice president of marketing, communications, and undergraduate enrollment. “This significant growth demonstrates that students are recognizing the value of a Niagara education and our commitment to meeting them where they are. Whether they are transferring from a community college or returning to finish what they started, we continue to streamline our processes to ensure their transition is as smooth and supportive as possible.”
The enrollment growth aligns with Niagara University’s sustained national recognition for transfer success. In August 2025, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) named Niagara University to its Transfer Honor Roll for the fifth consecutive year. This distinction is awarded to the top 25% of colleges nationwide that demonstrate excellence in creating dynamic pathways for transfer students.
Niagara University’s transfer-friendly environment includes:
- The Transfer Student Association: A sponsored organization that helps students immediately connect with the campus community and engage in leadership and social opportunities.
- Merit Scholarships: Dedicated financial support, including specific scholarships for Phi Theta Kappa members.
- Innovative Pathways: Flexible credit evaluation and academic advising designed to help students maximize their prior credits and graduate on time into career and life pathways.
“These colleges are doing more than just opening doors—they’re walking students through them,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa, regarding the Honor Roll institutions. “Their commitment to creating clear, supportive pathways demonstrates what’s possible when student success is truly the priority.” As the university prepares for the spring semester, this enrollment increase underscores Niagara’s position as a preferred destination for transfer students in Western New York.
