“Wild, Twisted, Freaky Cinema” is the theme of NU’s inaugural Wonder Fest, a free on-campus film festival which takes place on Thursday, Nov. 6, 13, and 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Dunleavy 127. The event, hosted by the Niagara University Wonder Film Society, will give students and faculty a chance to immerse themselves in the world of the featured films.
For two months, 11 passionate Niagara University students enrolled in CMS: 360, Film Festivals have built the festival from the ground up, learning how to find donors, promote the event, manage social media, and handle other key production tasks in an effort to revive campus culture and introduce students to a different side of cinema.
Festivalgoers will have the chance to score exciting prizes through giveaways and on-site games. There will also be a themed photo booth with props related to the featured films, along with themed refreshments to transport viewers into each movie’s universe.
“Our goal with NU Wonder Fest is to create something that unites the campus through the power of film,” said Alicia LaBrake, a Niagara University junior and one of the festival’s project managers. “We hope that the festival will bring people together through a celebration of cinema.”
